[ Inside is a set of chocolate liqueurs. Renee figures that it's the perfect combination. Alcohol and chocolate, can't get much better than that, right? ]
[ lil had to admit, it was a sweet gesture -- literally and otherwise. she can't really remember the last time she'd been given a gift, and it's been a while since she'd had any reason to dress up and go out. maybe this is just what she needs right now. ]
Thank you, hon. [ it's sincere, when she says that, and full of affectionate warmth. setting the box aside, she leans to wrap her arms around renee in a fond hug, squeezing her gently and pressing a friendly kiss to her cheek before letting go. ] Y'wanna head out?
[ she links her arm with renee's, practically leading her back outside. the door gets shut and locked behind them, with lil leaning to adjust the strap of her heel one more time before she speaks again, a bit teasing. ]
[ it's sweet, she has to admit that. and fun. renee has a way of letting her enjoy herself that few other people do. she appreciates it, when her other relationships can get so heavy.
lil picks up the spare helmet, putting it on and adjusting it a bit as she waits for renee. joking mildly, she asks: ]
[ her height makes it easy to lean her head against renee's shoulder as she watches the scenery speed up and flash by, wind kicking up the skirt of her dress. her grip on renee's waist stays firm and steady, anchoring her. ]
[ Fortunately for her, the helmet conceals her expression from view. As Lil rests her head on her shoulder, Renee's eyes widen, and her body tenses briefly.
After a moment, her posture relaxes again, and she drives in silence. Soon, they arrive at the restaurant, and the motorcycle slowly comes to a stop. ]
[ she waits until they're at a stop before removing her helmet, sighing mildly as she lifts a hand to smooth her slightly tousled hair back into place. her hands then find her dress, easing the skirt back into some semblance of modesty and neatness before she dismounts the motorcycle, setting the helmet down on the seat.
her eyes find the restaurant, curious and pleased. ]
Y'know, it's been goddamn ages since anyone took me out t'eat.
I'm an old damn lady. [ her tone is joking, but she means it more than it might seem like she does. ] You're the only one that wants t'take me out these days.
[ lil pauses thoughtfully, considering her options a moment before she spots a booth she likes, linking her arm loosely with renee's to pull her in that direction. she only lets go to slide into the seat, smiling when she comments a bit teasingly: ]
[ At that comment, her smile weakens, though it doesn't completely fade. Handing Lil one of the menus on the table, she casually brushes off her momentary awkwardness. ]
[ lil pauses, seeing the way renee's smile wanes at her teasing -- but before she can comment on it, she's distracted by the menu. accepting it, she glances down, skimming the various options. ]
Everythin' looks real good. [ she thoughtfully taps the fingers of her free hand against the table. ] Definitely gonna want a glass of wine though.
[ lil does get that glass of wine -- a nice red, according to the menu -- and one of the chef's specials, something that apparently has salmon in it. she waits for renee to order before turning her attention back to their conversation, commenting lightly: ]
This is nice. Almost feel like I should ask what the occasion is.

Figured we could drive over there. [ Holding out the present, she hands it over to Lil. ]
This is for you, by the way.
no subject
Hon, y'shouldn't have. Ain't y'just sweet? An' here I ain't got a thing for you.
no subject
Damn. Guess I should take it back, then.

Y'gonna drive me?

[ She leads them to where the motorcycle is parked. On the seat is an extra helmet for Lil. ]
Your chariot awaits.

That make y'some kinda knight in shinin' armor?

Polished it and everything.
[ Then, she adjusts her own helmet and takes a seat. ]

Gotta admit, y'know how t'give a gal the royal treatment.

I try.

Ages. [ Renee's tone is wry, tinged with disbelief but indulging her anyway. ] That long, huh?

Booth or table, Lil?

Kinda romantic, ain't it?

So, what would you like to order?

Can't argue with that.
[ A waiter approaches their table, and Renee waits for Lil to order before she places her own. ]

The holidays and all. [ She shrugs nonchalantly for effect. Renee didn't need a special reason to invite Lil to lunch. ]
Besides, it's like I said. My turn to treat you.
